Oncology and Chemotherapy
Veterinary Oncology focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of tumoral diseases, both benign and malignant. A tumour does not necessarily mean a poor prognosis: several treatment options today can increase life expectancy and quality of life.
Em que consiste
The goal of treatment is to control the disease, relieve symptoms and provide the greatest possible comfort to the animal, through early diagnosis and an individualised approach.
Quando é indicada
It is indicated for masses or lumps, wounds that do not heal, swelling of any structure, unexplained weight loss, persistent clinical changes, suspected or confirmed neoplasia, or the need for assessment for oncological surgery or chemotherapy.
Como é realizada na clínica
The assessment begins with a detailed consultation and full clinical exam. When needed, we perform cytology, biopsy, laboratory tests and imaging for characterisation and staging. We then draw up an individualised treatment plan, which may include surgery, chemotherapy, medical treatment or a combination, with close follow-up.
