Dermatology
Veterinary Dermatology focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of diseases of the skin, coat, nails and ears. Many of these conditions may be allergic, parasitic, infectious, hormonal or immune in origin, so identifying the underlying cause is essential to an effective treatment.
Em que consiste
Skin problems are one of the most frequent reasons for a veterinary visit and, when left untreated, can become chronic and significantly affect the animal's quality of life.
Quando é indicada
It is recommended whenever the animal shows persistent itching, red skin, excessive hair loss, changes in coat quality, wounds or skin lesions, flaking, bad skin odour, recurrent ear infections, excessive licking or biting of certain areas, or lumps or skin masses.
Como é realizada na clínica
The consultation begins with a full clinical assessment and a detailed history. Whenever needed, we use specific tests such as cytology, skin scrapings, trichograms, microbiological cultures and laboratory tests to identify the cause and define a personalised treatment plan. Regular follow-up is essential in managing chronic conditions.
